Invasive plant species

The Quants team has a wealth of experience in dealing with invasive plants from survey to eradication. We will advise on how best to deal with Japanese knotweed, giant hogweed or Himalayan balsam etc. on your site to achieve eradication quickly and cost effectively.

Japanese knotweed is a common problem on development sites, especially brownfield land. It can be time-consuming and costly to control but, if left, can grow through tarmac. Herbicide treatment can be much cheaper than removal of knotweed-contaminated soil to landfill but must be started early enough to achieve eradication before ground works start on site. Since April 2010, extra invasive weeds have joined Japanese knotweed and giant hogweed on Schedule 9 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act; including Himalayan balsam and cotoneasters.
